Lamatsamo Mining Services (LMS): Our Subsidiary Company

Lamatsamo Holdings has operated from Carolina, Mpumalanga since 2014, building expertise in the mining value chain. In April 2024, we established Lamatsamo Mining Services (LMS) as a subsidiary company based in Middelburg, Mpumalanga. While LMS is based in Middelburg and Lamatsamo Holdings is headquartered in Carolina, the two companies function as one ecosystem. This broadened structure provides us with the capability to operate in other provinces wherever clients need our services. LMS holds Level 1 B-BBEE certification as a 100% Black female-owned enterprise, offering clients 135% procurement recognition. The subsidiary focuses on four technical mining services which are mineral processing, plant hire, geological consultation, and environmental management. Reflections from the Sasol SMME Summit

Connecting with Leaders Shaping Mining’s Future Last month’s Sasol SMME Summit provided valuable insights into the mining sector’s evolving landscape and the remarkable women driving transformation across various industries. Meaningful Connections The summit created opportunities to engage with exceptional leaders making significant impacts in their respective sectors. These connections highlighted the intentional approach required to guide emerging businesses toward sustainable success. Barutle Unity Mokofane, owner of Mmasikhirikhiri Trading Enterprise, demonstrated pioneering leadership in renewable energy. Her work illustrates how innovation creates new pathways in traditionally challenging sectors. Yangelille Magxagxa continues breaking barriers in engineering with strategic thinking and operational excellence, showing how technical expertise combined with determined leadership creates lasting change. Mbali Mokwena represents dynamic evolution in coal laboratory services, bringing fresh perspectives and enhanced standards to established mining sector operations. Building on Foundations These interactions reminded me of the sacrifices made by women who came before us – those who paved the way for our generation to enter and thrive in spaces once closed to us. The professionals I met represent both current achievement and the continuing work needed to ensure comprehensive inclusion across male-dominated industries. The Path Forward While significant progress has been achieved, ensuring meaningful participation remains

Lamatsamo Holdings Expands Operations to Medupi Power Station

Strategic diversification beyond coal sector and Mpumalanga province Since May 2025, Lamatsamo Holdings has been operating at Medupi Power Station near Lephalale in Limpopo province, marking our strategic expansion beyond coal operations and Mpumalanga province. Working as a subcontractor, we handle aggregate crushing operations at this 4,764MW facility – the world’s largest dry-cooled coal-fired power station. Medupi Power Station represents about R145 billion investment in South Africa’s energy infrastructure, designed to generate enough electricity for approximately 3.5 million South African households over its 50-year operational life. The facility covers 883 hectares and employs advanced coal-fired technology for better efficiency. “This development marks a significant milestone in our growth plan,” said Bonisile Fortunate Shongwe our Founder and Managing Director. “Moving beyond our traditional coal operations in Mpumalanga to support South Africa’s critical energy infrastructure demonstrates our versatility and commitment to national development.” The expansion delivers three key achievements: The Medupi project shows the same precision and reliability that has defined our coal processing work in Mpumalanga. The technical demands of supporting power generation infrastructure require exacting standards – standards we meet through our approach to mining support services. Our collaboration with the principal contractor exemplifies effective integration within complex contractor networks.
