My Life-Changing Experience at the Empower Her Future Pitch Competition

By: Bridget Moema, Edited by: Lunga Dweba, 28 September 2024

My name is Bridget Moema, founder of Seedling Academy, and I recently had the life- changing opportunity to attend the Lamatsamo Empower Her Future Pitch Competition. This event was more than just a platform for pitching ideas—it was a breakthrough moment that shaped not only my future but also the future of my academy. On the day of the pitch, I was preparing for my grandmother’s funeral, which took place on the Saturday following the competition. It was a heavy time for me, both emotionally and physically, but I knew deep in my heart that I needed to attend.

Despite the personal challenges I was facing, I felt that this was the opportunity I had been waiting for—an opportunity for growth and breakthrough. I pushed myself to show up, knowing that Lamatsamo Holdings could provide the support I desperately needed. The atmosphere at the event was warm and welcoming. The women present were incredibly kind and loving, offering comfort without even knowing the storm I was weathering. Their support allowed me to relax and focus on the competition, which felt like a safe space where we could all learn and grow together. As the event unfolded, I had the pleasure of listening to inspiring speakers, including the Founder of Lamatsamo Holdings. Her words resonated deeply with me.

She said something that struck a chord: “When we do these ladies’ events, people need money to start—not just ideas.” This was the encouragement I needed, reaffirming that financial support is often the catalyst for real change.   The competition itself was filled with inspiring pitches from women across various industries. Each story was empowering and reminded me of the resilience and determination we all carry as women. And then, to my absolute joy and surprise, I won first place! This victory was a monumental moment for me, especially during such a difficult time in my personal life. The prize I won provided a much-needed kick-start for Seedling Academy, reinforcing my belief that nothing dies in my hands.

I knew deep in my heart that I needed to attend.   But Seedling Academy is not my only passion. Beyond education, I empower young boys and women through seminars and camps under my organization, Being Refined: The Seed of Hope. Every year, I give shoes to students in need and spend time with children at orphanages, offering not just material support but love and encouragement as well.  Lamatsamo’s Empower Her Future has given me more than just a prize —it has given me a renewed sense of purpose. I am truly grateful to Lamatsamo Holdings for this opportunity, which has not only empowered me but also fueled my passion for empowering others.
